LynxLynx is a drawing tool that uses coordinate graphs to create artwork. Lynx was created by John Spahr, owner of Tectra Systems.
HistoryOn November 6, 2018, John Spahr released Lynx. This was a simple, math-based drawing tool developed in Scratch. The project saw some success but didn't gain a whole lot of traction.
As time went on, it became quite apparent that Scratch was far too limited. As a result, John decided to create Lynx for Windows, which was written in C# rather than Scratch. Lynx for Windows was released on February 28, 2019.
Lynx for Windows received many updates following its initial release. However, John knew that Lynx needed to be available for more platforms to truly be successful. As a result, on August 6, 2019, a new version of Lynx was released. It was called the Lynx Online Editor. The unique thing about this version of Lynx was that it could run completely in your browser. As a result, a lot more people could now experience Lynx.
Lynx also got an Android app, known as Lynx Go. It was released on March 4, 2020. This version of Lynx offered the perks of the online editor, while being optimized for mobile devices.
Lynx has evolved a lot since its initial release. However, its core purpose remains the same: to be a fun, math-based drawing tool. As a result, Lynx continues to be one of my main projects!
